Glass has been in use for a very long time. Its versatile nature has allowed it to be used for so many different things that it’s hard to list them all. But, one thing that has plagued people for many decades, maybe even longer, is how to clean glass without leaving any streaks behind.
Many people, to this day, still fail at this task, so it’s no wonder why so many rely on house cleaning services in Bay Terrace, NY. However, if you’re one to learn new things, like what the best way to clean marble surfaces is, or how to properly clean your toilet, or how to properly clean and organize your kitchen drawers and shelves, this is something that will for sure pique your interest. Read on!
Glass, if integrated properly into the interior design of a house, really stands out and can be a really nice centerpiece. No matter if it’s in the form of a room divider, interior window, or just a plain-ol’ mirror with a nice wooden frame.Â
Many modern houses also substitute older materials for glass walls. So, if the climate allows it, many modern homes are mainly built from glass, primarily with one thing in mind, to allow as much natural light to come in as possible. Plus, it looks really great.Â
But, even with its widespread use, when it comes time to actually clean it, glass still puzzles many people to this day. Â
Everyday dusting and cleaning can be done with little to no effort. Simply use a duster for built-up dust, or use a microfiber cloth to wipe off any grime from your glass surfaces or mirrors. In this instance, microfiber cloth is good, and you can even dampen it before wiping, since it won’t leave any streaks behind.Â
One other trick many people use is newspapers or plain paper to wipe off excess water from glass surfaces or mirrors after cleaning them with a mild detergent. Paper absorbs water pretty well, and it won’t leave many streaks behind, so it’s a nice little mirror-cleaning trick to know. Plus, you can use a good-old squeegee for the same purpose.
Also, you can use any form of homemade cleaning mix to clean mirrors or glass surfaces, as they are pretty durable. The only thing that you shouldn’t do is to use any abrasive cleaning agents or wire-sponges to clean glass surfaces. You’ll scratch the surface and leave behind a bunch of marks.
If you’ve noticed stains forming on your mirrors, use tougher cleaning agents to try and scrub them off. If they aren’t coming off, and are in the form of black dots, it’s probably time to replace your mirror since it’s most likely that the inner layers of a mirror have been damaged.
Many people swear by the cleaning properties of vinegar, especially when it comes to glass surfaces and mirrors. The truth is that vinegar is primarily a good disinfectant and only an “okay” cleaning agent.
But, when it comes to something as smooth as glass, it can be a good alternative to many different commercial cleaning products. If you apply it onto your mirrors with a spray bottle and leave it on for a couple of dozen seconds to react with the built-up dirt, it will decently clean it.
However, to say that it can be as effective as any other cleaning product is an exaggeration.Â
